Started by Herman Hollerith as the Tabulating Machine Company in 1896 and later Incorporated on June 16, 1911 in the state of New York as the Computing - Tabulating - Recording Company (C-T-R), a consolidation of the Computing Scale Company, and The International Time Recording Company. In 1924 C-T-R adopted the name International Business Machines (IBM). Today, IBM is one of the most known and successful computer companies of the world.
