Make older programs run in Windows Vista using the Program Compatibility Wizard

It’s really annoying when you get a new operating system such as Windows Vista, but your old favorite programs are not compatible or will not work properly. I remember having the same problem when Windows XP came out, however now you can make most older programs run in Windows Vista.
You can change settings for a particular program by using the Program Compatibility Wizard. Older Programs have now become more compatible with Windows Vista.
Just say you had used a program successfully in Windows Xp and then your upgraded to Windows Vista. If the program failed to run correctly you can change the compatibility options.
Here’s how to find a programs compatibility options:

1. Right click on the .exe file for the program you want to run. A menu will appear.
2. Choose Properties from the menu.
3. Click on the Compatibility tab.

   If a program is already installed on your computer there will be a folder in Program files. To find this folder:
   
4. Open My computer from the Start Menu.
5. Double click on C drive.
6. Program files folder will be there.
7. Double click on this folder and search for a folder that matches the program you want to change.

For example if you wanted to find Microsoft office .exe file you would look for a folder named Microsoft office.

2. Try running as an admin. Even if you are logged in as an admin, right click on the application and select ‘Run as Administrator’. It can fix the problem most of the time.
