The game has new controls, such as the “Drag-and-Place” option allowing you to tap and drag pieces with precision. You can also choose the lightning fast “One-Touch” controls or “Swipe” placement if you prefer the original controls.
Six-Guns is a game from Gameloft and is a third-person shooter set in Arizona and Oregon that brings to life the spirit of the Wild West. You play the mysterious cowboy, Buck Crosshaw, something of a ‘man with no name’ character, who finds himself an outlaw who has had to fake his own death and escape to Arizona. However, escaping from one evil he finds himself in another, as a ‘wicked force stirs in the hills of this mysterious region.’
In Kingdoms and Lords you are the master of your own fledgling kingdom, which you must defend initially against Barbarian riders and then against the rise of the Dark King. This is a strategy SIM in the classic sense of the game, in that you’ll need to farm livestock and raise crops, while at the same time balance the affairs of state by raising and training, then maintaining, an army.
In Jetpack Joyride you get to play Barry Steakfries who dons a whole series of cool and amazing jetpack based gadgets in order to take to the skies and collect coins. The plot of Jetpack Joyride is quite simple, you as Barry break into a secret laboratory to steal the experimental jetpacks from the clutches of science evildoers. Each jetpack has its own special ability, from firing bullets, bubbles, rainbows and even lasers downwards as you fly.
The introduction for Babel Rising 3D on Xbox Live gives you everything you need to know about this game, ‘Step into the sacred sandals of a great, almighty, and very angry deity. Hurl bolts of holy lightning, summon punishing earthquakes, and unleash vengeful floods upon the foolish and irreverent Humans to prevent them from building the tower of Babel.’
The SIMS Medieval is the latest EA game that has appeared exclusive for Nokia Lumia owners. It’s not appeared in the Nokia Collection yet, though it will, but you can pick it up from the Xbox Live section of your Nokia Lumia. In the game you get to create your own hero and take part in a fantasy world of quests and adventures. You can choose to be anything from a servant or serf, to a knight, a lady or even a vampire.
Halo is the jewel in the Microsoft gaming crown so it was always going to be something of a grand day when it arrived on the Windows Phone 8 platform. The beauty is, it’s already come in for an update taking the original 25 levels up to 30 levels. It is rooted very firmly in the Halo franchise. So much so, the game is set between the action in Halo 3 and Halo 4 and features Spartan super soldiers Sarah Palmer and Edward Davis, who are pretty important characters in the over-arching mythos.
Skulls of the Shogun is a fantastic game from Microsoft Studios that manages to turn what is a rather flat and staid old gaming style, the turn-based game, into some new and dynamic with an amazing backdrop, story and more game play than you can wave a thousand-times folded Katana at.
The Sims FreePlay is a brand new version of the game you may have played on Facebook. With a brand new game engine, you’ll be able to play the game of virtual life on your Nokia Lumia smartphone running Windows Phone 8. As the game states, “will your Sims be friends – or enemies? Form relationships with a slap, a high-five (or some Woohoo!).” It’s the free-form game that urges you to interact with other Sims, expand your city and create a virtual life online.
